We only had to ban one person and it was for harassing other people (and suspicion of trying to illegally sell ants to other chat member via pm).

Re: Prenolepis Imparis Nutrition
Just apply the sugars in SMALL drops (or in other forms like cotton soaked with sugar water) so the ants cannot drown in it.

Re: Crazy Idea!
I know someone who did that with Pheidole megacephalia. He hid the formicarium at a dark place, the Pheidole went raiding and killed all the Argentine colonies around the building.

Re: Lasius Niger AC Hybrid nest
If you think it's too dry you can always add some sand-clay mix to the bottom and the sides of the chambers. But you have to be careful when watering cause it's an extremely good water conductor and will spread it through the entire nest. Perfect for ants that love it really really moist, like many ...

Re: In A Need Of Dire Help [Urgent]*
Dont try to tape test tube together. Keep both tubes plugged with cotton and use a straw (regular drinking straws will be sufficient for most species) to connect them.
Unless you have ridiculously small ants (like Solenopsis fugax or Monomorium pharaonis) this will work fine.

Re: is a Fish tank better or a plastic container and is soil better
Solenopsis invicta definitely needs something that can be expanded. They have a habbit of rapidly exploding out of their setups.
They'll probably like soil most but can live in other nests as well as long as they're humid enough.

Re: Weird ant behavior
Most ants do tandem running (especially Camponotus). Also ants usually do not eat other colony members (especially not weird ones that could be sick). They just dispose them at the garbage dump. Maybe the worker was just inexperienced, overcurious, confused, dehydrated or stubborn and the other work...

You need patience. Camponotus are a bit on the slow side regarding brood development.
My Camponotus (barbaricus) absolutely love frozen spiders. They also like maple syrup.
